You can enter a Coinepay virtual card when setting up a paid Cloudflare plan, subject to Cloudflare’s payment checks and your account’s eligibility. This guide covers Cloudflare’s Network & CDN domain plans: what to prepare, how to reach checkout, and what to check if a payment fails.
Before you start
Create a Cloudflare account with an email address and password, then follow the email-verification message. If you are adding a website, have access to its domain and DNS settings: Cloudflare’s setup asks you to add the domain, choose a plan, review DNS records, and complete the domain setup.
You also need a Coinepay account. Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Coinepay issues virtual cards with a card number, expiry date, and CVV that you can view in its self-service dashboard or mobile app. Check your card’s available balance and any applicable settings in Coinepay before starting checkout. If you need to confirm a card detail or requirement, contact Coinepay support.
Use your real identity and accurate billing details. In particular, use the billing address associated with your payment method rather than an invented address. Cloudflare notes that gift or prepaid cards may fail when they do not have an associated billing address. That policy does not establish whether any particular Coinepay card qualifies: if you are unsure whether your card meets a Cloudflare payment requirement, contact Coinepay support before buying.
Choose the right Cloudflare plan
Cloudflare’s Network & CDN domain tiers are Free, Pro, Business, and Contract; Cloudflare billing documentation also uses Enterprise for its contracted domain tier. At the time of writing (October 2026), the published dollar prices were Free at $0; Pro at $25 per month or $20 per month billed annually; Business at $250 per month or $200 per month billed annually; and Contract at a custom annual price. Check Cloudflare’s official Network & CDN pricing page for current prices and terms before choosing.
Paid domain-plan charges apply per domain. Add-ons may be billed separately, and applicable tax can increase the amount due. Review the total shown at checkout rather than assuming that the displayed plan price is your complete charge. If you are buying Cloudflare SASE or Zero Trust instead, its Free, Pay-as-you-go, and Contract tiers are a separate product lineup; the domain-plan steps below may not match that purchase.
Pay for a Cloudflare domain plan step by step
- Prepare your Coinepay card. Sign in to the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app and obtain your virtual card number, expiry date, and CVV. Check that its available balance can cover the amount Cloudflare shows, including any applicable tax or add-ons. Do not assume a particular currency, limit, or card setting; check your Coinepay account for the details that apply to you.
- Create or open your Cloudflare account. Sign up using your email address and password if you are new, and complete email verification. If you already manage the domain in Cloudflare, sign in to the account that owns it.
- Add the website if necessary. Enter the domain in Cloudflare, review the DNS records it finds, and follow the domain-setup instructions. Take care with DNS changes so you do not unintentionally interrupt your website or email.
- Select a plan. Choose the appropriate Network & CDN tier for the domain. Review whether you selected monthly or annual billing, along with any add-ons. A Contract or Enterprise purchase may follow terms different from self-serve checkout.
- Enter payment and billing details. A paid purchase requires a primary payment method. In Cloudflare’s billing-profile flow, enter the Coinepay virtual card details, your real billing information, and any applicable business or tax details. Complete a 3-D Secure authentication step if one appears. Check the amount and details before confirming.
- Verify the result. In the Cloudflare dashboard, open Manage Account → Billing. The Payment area contains payment methods and the billing address; Subscriptions shows plans and renewal dates; and Invoices and documents contains invoices. Check that the intended domain and subscription appear as expected.
Cloudflare’s first paid purchase establishes a monthly billing date. Annual subscriptions have a separate cycle, and Cloudflare uses UTC for billing dates. Save the renewal date shown in Subscriptions and ensure your payment method is ready before the next charge.
If Cloudflare declines your card
A failed payment does not by itself identify the cause. Cloudflare may show “The payment has failed. Please contact your bank or use a different payment method” or “Payment error: authorization failed.” Avoid making repeated unchanged attempts; first check the details below.
| What to check | What to do |
|---|---|
| Balance or amount | Compare the available card balance in Coinepay with Cloudflare’s checkout total, including tax and add-ons. Insufficient funds can cause a decline. |
| Card details and billing address | Re-enter the card number, expiry date, and CVV carefully. In Cloudflare, review Manage Account → Billing → Payment and correct any inaccurate billing information. An address mismatch can interfere with payment checks; use only your genuine details. |
| 3-D Secure | If Cloudflare requests authentication, complete the prompt rather than closing it or letting it expire. If no prompt appears or it fails, check your Coinepay app and contact support for help with your card. |
| Merchant or regional checks | Cloudflare and the payment provider may apply eligibility or payment checks that vary by account, product, and jurisdiction. Do not change your address or location to bypass them. Ask Cloudflare about the checkout restriction and Coinepay support whether your card meets the stated requirement. |
| Issuer decline or repeated attempts | Cloudflare documents issuer declines and rate limits as possible causes. Coinepay support can help you investigate your card; Cloudflare support can help with the Cloudflare-side error. |
Also check whether your Cloudflare account has an unpaid balance, which can block a new purchase or subscription change. Cloudflare lists several other checkout methods, but their availability depends on the account and checkout; you do not need to use one to diagnose a virtual-card decline.
If a renewal fails, Cloudflare documents up to five retries over a five-day grace period. An additional saved payment method may be tried for subscription renewals. Resolve the issue promptly: unresolved nonpayment can result in a downgrade to the Free plan. Check Billing → Payment and Billing → Subscriptions rather than assuming a failed charge has canceled the subscription.
Manage or cancel the subscription
To review a renewal, open Manage Account → Billing → Subscriptions. Cloudflare’s cancellation path is Billing → Subscriptions → Cancel → Confirm; for a paid domain plan, change the domain to Free. Cloudflare says cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period and advises acting at least 24 hours before the UTC billing date.
Cloudflare does not refund the current period or unused time when you cancel. Its policy also identifies certain purchases and renewal situations as non-refundable; Enterprise contracts may have separate terms. Read the terms shown for your purchase before confirming, and keep the invoice available under Billing → Invoices and documents.

Why does Cloudflare say “Payment error: authorization failed”?
