Alibaba Cloud charges for its services by product, configuration, region and billing mode rather than through a single company-wide plan. Before you link any card, it helps to understand how its billing works, what card rules apply, and how a Coinepay virtual card fits in. This guide walks through registration, adding a payment method, and the most common reasons a card is declined.
What you need before you start
- A completed Coinepay account. Register at the Coinepay sign-up page and finish identity verification (KYC) first, then create a virtual card with its number, expiry date and CVV in the Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app (iOS / Android).
- Your real identity and real billing address. Alibaba Cloud requires accurate account and billing details, and may run identity verification.
- A clear idea of which product you want. Alibaba Cloud's official billing modes are Pay-as-you-go and Subscription, and subscription covers subscription instances, Savings Plans and resource plans.
Important: Alibaba Cloud's card rules
Read this before you buy. Alibaba Cloud's payment-management documentation states that prepaid, virtual and gift cards are not supported, along with cards issued in the Chinese mainland and mainland-registered PayPal accounts. It also notes that a card or wallet can be linked to only one Alibaba Cloud account at a time.
Because of this, you should not assume a Coinepay virtual card will be accepted for Alibaba Cloud billing. Contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets Alibaba Cloud's requirement before you try to link it or place an order. If it does not qualify, Alibaba Cloud publishes other options you can use instead (see below), and Coinepay support can advise on what your card is best suited for.
Separately, Alibaba Cloud's product free trials require an internationally enabled Visa, Mastercard, Amex or JCB credit/debit card (or PayTM for users in India); PayPal alone does not qualify for a trial.
Other payment methods Alibaba Cloud lists
Accepted payments depend on your account's contracting entity, which is tied to the country/region you register in. The published options vary by entity and include cards (Visa and Mastercard appear most widely across the Singapore, US, UK, Netherlands and Malaysia columns) as well as wallets and bank methods such as Alipay CN, Alipay HK, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, DANA, PayNow, iDEAL and US ACH Direct Debit. Ordinary bank transfer is limited to eligible enterprise credit-control customers.
Step 1: Register an Alibaba Cloud account
- Go to the Alibaba Cloud international site and choose Sign In → Register.
- Select an individual or enterprise account and pick your country/region. Note that the international site does not accept the Chinese mainland as a registration region or a mainland mobile number.
- Verify your contact details and add a mobile number.
- Complete sign-up by adding a payment method and billing address. A completed sign-up is required to activate a free trial or to buy resources outside the Chinese mainland; buying resources in mainland regions requires identity verification.
Step 2: Add your payment method
- In the console, open Expenses and Costs → Billing Account → Bind Third-party Payment Method.
- Enter your card number, expiry date and CVV exactly as shown in your Coinepay app, and enter the billing address exactly as it appears on your Coinepay profile.
- Linking a card involves a USD 1 pre-authorization and may trigger your issuer's 3-D Secure check. Keep your phone or app handy to approve it.
- The card must reach Valid status before you can use it. The first verified card becomes your preferred external payment method.
Step 3: Choose a product and check out
- Pick the product and configuration you need. For example, Simple Application Server lists Linux-image packages at USD 3.50, 4.50, 9, 15, 19, 35 or 70/month and Windows-image packages at USD 11, 19, 28, 38, 65 or 110/month (prices seen October 2026; these are product packages, not Alibaba Cloud-wide tiers).
- Select your billing mode. With Subscription (prepaid), resources are charged when you place the order. With Pay-as-you-go (postpaid), usage is charged automatically, generally at a threshold or when the monthly bill is issued.
- Confirm the region, review the price, and place the order. Because charges depend on the product, configuration, region and billing method, always confirm the current figure on Alibaba Cloud's official pricing page for your chosen product before you commit.
A universal price for "Alibaba Cloud" does not exist. Any number you see applies only to one specific product and configuration in one region at a point in time.
Troubleshooting: common card-declined causes
Alibaba Cloud's payment FAQ lists issuer declines, blocked international transactions, insufficient funds for the pre-authorization, unsupported cards, an already-linked card, incomplete 3-D Secure or KYC, and browser or network problems as the usual payment and card-linking failure reasons. Its API documentation also publishes error codes such as Cvv2Declined, InvalidCardExpireTime, PaymentDeclinedByBank, CardCountryNotSupport and CardNotSupport3DVerification (these are API codes; the exact checkout-screen wording may differ).
Insufficient balance for the pre-authorization
The USD 1 check and any order amount must be covered by your available balance. Top up your Coinepay card in the app and retry.
Billing address mismatch
If the billing address on Alibaba Cloud does not match the one registered to your card, the transaction can fail. Copy your Coinepay billing details exactly, including country and postal code.
3-D Secure not completed
A code like CardNotSupport3DVerification or a stalled approval means the authentication step did not finish. Make sure notifications are enabled in the Coinepay app and complete the prompt promptly.
Card type or region not supported
Errors such as CardNotSupport, CardCountryNotSupport or an unsupported-card message relate to Alibaba Cloud's card policy and your contracting entity. Since Alibaba Cloud lists virtual cards among unsupported types, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card is suitable before troubleshooting further, and consider one of the wallet or bank options Alibaba Cloud supports for your region.
Card already linked
A card or wallet can be linked to only one Alibaba Cloud account at a time. Remove it from the other account or use a different payment method.
Stopping charges, cancelling and refunds
To stop pay-as-you-go charges, back up your data and release or delete the billable resources. Prepaid products need an eligible Expenses and Costs → Unsubscribe request, which releases the resource and cannot be reversed. Refund eligibility is product- and usage-dependent: for example, Alibaba Cloud's published table shows ECS and Simple Application Server do not have an unused-full-refund option. Since April 3, 2026, self-service unsubscription allows full refunds for eligible unused or not-yet-effective all-upfront Savings Plans. Refunds generally go back to the original channel and may take up to 30 business days.
A note on compliance
Use your real identity and real billing information throughout. Do not attempt to work around Alibaba Cloud's regional rules or card policy. If you are unsure whether your Coinepay card fits a specific Alibaba Cloud product, reach out through Coinepay support or Telegram before you buy.

FAQ
Does Alibaba Cloud accept virtual cards?
Alibaba Cloud's payment documentation lists prepaid, virtual and gift cards among the card types it does not support. Because of this, contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets Alibaba Cloud's requirement before you try to link it, and consider the wallet or bank options Alibaba Cloud lists for your region.
Why was my card declined when linking it to Alibaba Cloud?
Alibaba Cloud's FAQ cites issuer declines, blocked international transactions, insufficient funds for the USD 1 pre-authorization, unsupported cards, an already-linked card, and incomplete 3-D Secure or KYC. Check your balance, match your billing address exactly, and complete any 3-D Secure prompt in the Coinepay app.
How much does Alibaba Cloud cost?
There is no single Alibaba Cloud price. Charges depend on the product, configuration, region and billing mode (Pay-as-you-go or Subscription). For example, Simple Application Server Linux packages were listed from USD 3.50/month in October 2026. Always check the official pricing page for your chosen product.
Can I use a free trial with a Coinepay card?
Alibaba Cloud product free trials require an internationally enabled Visa, Mastercard, Amex or JCB credit/debit card (or PayTM in India), and PayPal alone does not qualify. Confirm with Coinepay support whether your card meets this requirement before relying on it for a trial.
How do I stop being charged by Alibaba Cloud?
For pay-as-you-go, back up your data and release or delete the billable resources. For prepaid products, submit an eligible Unsubscribe request under Expenses and Costs; it releases the resource and cannot be reversed. Refund eligibility varies by product and usage.
