Coinepay Global Remittance lets you send money from France to Tunisia using a single verified account. Tunisia is outside the comprehensive-sanctions list, so this corridor is supported. This guide walks through what you need before you start, how to choose a payout method, and how to review and track your transfer. Because Tunisia is not part of the SEPA zone, a transfer to a Tunisian account is treated as an international payment, so getting the recipient details right matters.
Before you start: what the sender needs
To send any cross-border transfer with Coinepay you first need a registered account with completed identity verification (KYC). If you have not done this yet, create your account and finish verification, then manage everything from the iOS app, the Android app or the 24/7 self-service dashboard.
You will also need accurate information about your recipient. The exact fields depend on the payout method you choose, but in every case prepare:
- The recipient's full legal name exactly as it appears on their official identity document or bank records.
- A working contact detail (phone number) so they can be notified.
- The payout details for your chosen method, described below.
Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may ask you about the purpose of the transfer or the source of funds, and all senders and recipients are screened against sanctions lists. Use your real identity and real details; do not split a transfer or route it through a third party to avoid checks.
Tunisia's currency and account format
Tunisia's local currency is the Tunisian dinar (TND). If you send in another currency, Coinepay shows the conversion before you confirm.
A Tunisian IBAN begins with TN and is 24 characters long. Within it, the 20-digit domestic account number is made up of a 2-digit bank code, a 3-digit branch code, a 13-digit account number and 2 check digits. The Tunisian IBAN already contains the bank and branch identifiers, so you do not need an IFSC, a CLABE or a US routing number — those are not Tunisian identifiers. For a standard bank transfer you will usually also provide the receiving bank's name and its SWIFT/BIC code. Always confirm the exact instructions with the recipient's bank.
Choose a payout method
Coinepay supports common local payout methods. For the France–Tunisia corridor the options you are most likely to use are bank deposit and cash pickup; mobile-wallet payout may be offered depending on the provider. The methods actually available to you appear in the app when you select Tunisia as the destination.
Bank-account deposit
Funds are paid into the recipient's Tunisian bank account. You will need:
- The account holder's full legal name as held by the bank.
- The 24-character Tunisian IBAN (starting with TN).
- The receiving bank's name and SWIFT/BIC, and in some cases the bank's address.
Tunisian exchange-control rules require incoming payments from abroad to pass through an authorised intermediary, such as a bank or the postal administration. The rules also distinguish funds received in dinars from amounts kept in foreign currency, so how the receiving account is set up can affect how your recipient receives the money. If in doubt, your recipient should ask their bank which account to use.
Cash pickup
Cash pickup lets the recipient collect the money at a payout location. For this method you typically provide the recipient's full legal name exactly as on their identity document. Once the transfer is ready, the recipient collects the funds by presenting a valid identity document and the reference number from the transfer. Make sure the name you enter matches their ID precisely, or the location may refuse to pay out.
Mobile wallet
Mobile-wallet payout to Tunisia exists but availability is provider-specific. Some Tunisian services describe receiving incoming funds into a wallet, account or prepaid card. If a wallet option is shown for Tunisia in the Coinepay app, you will generally need the recipient's full name and the phone number or wallet identifier registered to their wallet. If you do not see a wallet option, use bank deposit or cash pickup instead, and contact support if you need help confirming what is available.
Step by step: sending the transfer
- Sign in and start a transfer. Open the Coinepay app or dashboard and choose the option to send money.
- Choose the destination and currency. Select Tunisia as the destination. Pick the currency and the payout method (bank deposit, cash pickup or, if shown, mobile wallet).
- Enter the recipient's details. Type the recipient's full legal name and the fields required for your chosen method — IBAN and SWIFT/BIC for a bank deposit, or the recipient's name and phone for cash pickup. Double-check every digit of the IBAN.
- Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay displays the applicable exchange rate and any fees clearly before you confirm. Review the amount your recipient will receive.
- Confirm and fund the transfer. Confirm the details and provide any information requested for compliance, such as the purpose or source of funds.
- Track the status. Every transfer has status tracking. Follow it from your Coinepay transfer history and share the reference number with your recipient when needed.
What your recipient should expect
For a bank deposit, the money arrives in the recipient's Tunisian account; their bank may apply exchange-control treatment depending on whether the account holds dinars or foreign currency. For cash pickup, the recipient brings a valid ID and the reference number to the payout location. Tunisian financial institutions and the postal service have their own duty to report suspicious transactions to the national financial-intelligence unit (CTAF); this is an institutional obligation, not a routine step for every recipient. Encourage your recipient to keep the reference number handy until the funds arrive.
Troubleshooting
Wrong recipient details
An incorrect recipient name or account number is a common cause of delayed or returned payments. Check the IBAN and the name against the recipient's bank records before you confirm. If you spot a mistake after sending, contact Coinepay support as soon as possible through the app.
Compliance review
A transfer may pause for identity verification or sanctions screening, and Coinepay may ask for supporting documents such as the purpose or source of funds. Respond promptly and accurately to keep things moving. Do not attempt to work around a review.
Delays
Funding time, transaction verification, the chosen payout method and system availability can all affect timing. Weekends and public holidays in France or Tunisia can slow bank processing on either side. Use the in-app status tracker before contacting support.
Returned transfers
A receiving bank may reject or return a payment even when the details look correct — for example, if the account cannot accept an international payment. If this happens, the status updates in your history; reach out to support to arrange a correction or return. Confirm the correct receiving account with your recipient's bank before resending.
