Sending money from Canada to Pakistan is one of the most common cross-border transfers, whether you are supporting family, paying for education or settling a small business obligation. Coinepay Global Remittance supports transfers to Pakistan from Canada, with payouts to a bank account, to popular local mobile wallets, or for cash pickup. This guide walks through what you need, how the transfer works step by step, and how to handle common problems.
Before you start: what the sender needs
You must have a verified Coinepay account before you can send a remittance. If you have not signed up yet, register with Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC). You can manage everything from the 24/7 dashboard or the Coinepay mobile app for iOS and Android.
Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Both you and your recipient are screened against sanctions lists, and Coinepay may ask for supporting documents such as the purpose of the transfer or the source of your funds. Have your own real identity and billing details ready, and never send on behalf of an undisclosed third party.
You will also need your recipient's details. At a minimum this is their full legal name exactly as it appears on their bank account or ID, plus the payout details for the method you choose (see below).
Local currency and account details for Pakistan
Pakistan's local currency is the Pakistani rupee (PKR). The details you collect depend on the payout method.
Bank deposit
For a bank-account payout you will generally need the recipient's account title (the exact name on the account), the bank name, and either an IBAN or an account number with branch code. A Pakistani IBAN is 24 characters long: it starts with PK, followed by two check digits, a four-letter bank identifier and a 16-character account-code field. For a direct international bank wire, your recipient should ask their own bank for its inward-remittance instructions, which typically include the account title, IBAN and the SWIFT/BIC code. Major banks on this route include HBL, UBL, Meezan Bank, MCB Bank and Bank Alfalah.
Note that some account types carry conditions. An Asaan Remittance Account, for example, is designed to receive home remittances from abroad and has a maximum credit balance of PKR 2 million under State Bank of Pakistan rules. Ask your recipient to confirm their account can receive an inward remittance of the amount you plan to send.
Mobile wallets
Popular Pakistani mobile wallets for receiving money include Easypaisa and JazzCash. For a wallet payout you typically need the recipient's full name as registered on the wallet and their registered mobile number. Ask the recipient to confirm their wallet is active and able to receive remittances from abroad before you send.
Cash pickup
Where cash pickup is offered, the recipient collects the funds at an agent location. Identification requirements are set by the paying provider; UBL, for instance, states that collection at selected Omni agents requires the recipient's original CNIC (national identity card) and the transaction reference number. Make sure the name you enter matches the recipient's CNIC exactly and share the reference number with them once the transfer is created.
Identifiers such as IFSC, CLABE or Canadian routing/transit numbers are not standard for a Pakistani receiving account. Always use the details requested by the recipient's bank or the chosen payout method.
Step by step: sending the transfer
- Open Coinepay and start a transfer. Sign in to the app or dashboard and choose the remittance option to send money.
- Select the destination and currency. Choose Pakistan as the destination. Coinepay supports multi-currency transfers, so you will see the sending and receiving currency, with PKR as the local payout currency.
- Choose the payout method. Select bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup. Availability can depend on the recipient's location and the selected provider.
- Enter the recipient's details. Type the recipient's full legal name and the payout details for your chosen method (IBAN or account number and branch code, wallet mobile number, or the information needed for pickup). Double-check every character.
- Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and any fees clearly before you confirm. Review the amount your recipient will receive in PKR and make sure it is what you intend.
- Confirm the transfer. Once you are satisfied, confirm. You may be asked for additional information or documents as part of compliance checks.
- Track the status. Every transfer has status tracking in the app and dashboard. Share the reference number with your recipient, especially for cash pickup.
What your recipient should expect
Receiving remittances from abroad is not generally restricted in Pakistan, but account-type, provider and compliance conditions still apply. For larger or qualifying transactions, Pakistani authorized dealers handle prescribed reporting and may contact the recipient for information; they can also issue an electronic Proceeds Realization Certificate documenting funds received from abroad, which some recipients need for their own records.
On the Canadian side, financial institutions and money-services businesses report qualifying outbound international electronic funds transfers of CAD 10,000 or more to FINTRAC. This is a reporting requirement, not a transfer limit, and it is handled by the reporting institution.
Troubleshooting
Wrong recipient details
Incorrect names or account details are the most common cause of problems. A receiving bank may hold, reject or return a payment if the account title does not match or the account number is wrong. Corrections to held home-remittance instructions generally must come from the sending end, so check your Coinepay transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly if something looks wrong.
Compliance review
Transfers can be paused for security, sanctions or source-of-funds checks. If Coinepay requests documents such as the purpose or source of your funds, respond quickly and accurately to help the review complete. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions.
Delays
Common reasons a transfer takes longer include your payment not yet reaching Coinepay, ongoing security checks, recipient-bank processing time, and weekends or public holidays in either country. Check the live status in the app before assuming there is a problem.
Returned transfers
Account eligibility can trigger a return. Some account types in Pakistan have restrictions on the remittances they can receive, and an Asaan account may reject a credit that would exceed its balance limit. If a transfer is returned, confirm the recipient's account can accept an inward remittance of that amount and the correct payout method, then try again with verified details.

FAQ
Does Coinepay support sending money to Pakistan from Canada?
Yes. Coinepay Global Remittance supports transfers to Pakistan from Canada, with payouts to a bank account, to local mobile wallets such as Easypaisa and JazzCash, or for cash pickup where available. All transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations.
What details do I need from my recipient in Pakistan?
At minimum their full legal name. For a bank deposit you need the account title, bank name and either a 24-character Pakistani IBAN (starting with PK) or an account number with branch code; for a direct wire you may also need the SWIFT/BIC. For a wallet you need the registered mobile number, and for cash pickup the recipient typically needs their original CNIC and the transaction reference number.
How much are the fees and what exchange rate will I get?
Coinepay shows the exchange rate and any fees clearly in the app before you confirm the transfer, so you can review the amount your recipient will receive in PKR. Always check the figures on the confirmation screen before sending.
Why was my transfer delayed or returned?
Delays can come from your payment not yet reaching Coinepay, security or source-of-funds checks, recipient-bank processing, or weekends and holidays. Returns are often caused by incorrect recipient details or account eligibility limits, such as an Asaan account's balance cap. Check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support if needed.
Can I correct the recipient details after sending?
If a payment is held because of a name or account mismatch, corrections to home-remittance instructions generally need to come from the sending side. Check your transfer status in the Coinepay app and contact support promptly so they can advise on the next step.
