You can send money from Australia to India with Coinepay Global Remittance. Before you start, ask your recipient how they want to receive the money: into an Indian bank account, through an eligible UPI or mobile-wallet route, or by cash pickup. The details you need depend on that choice. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm, so you can review the transfer before sending it.

What you need before sending

Register for Coinepay and complete identity verification before making a transfer. Use your real identity and provide accurate information about the payment. You can manage transfers through the Coinepay mobile app or the 24/7 self-service dashboard. If you have not registered, create an account first.

Ask for the recipient’s full legal name as it appears on their bank account, wallet registration or identification document. Also confirm their preferred payout method and the details for that method. Coinepay may ask for the purpose of the payment or documents supporting the source of funds. Having an accurate explanation ready can help you respond if a review is needed.

India’s local currency is the Indian rupee (INR). Check the sending and receiving currencies shown in Coinepay when you set up the transfer, and verify the amount the recipient is expected to receive before confirming. Do not rely on an earlier quote for the exchange rate or fees; use the figures displayed for the transfer you are about to send.

Choose how the recipient will receive the money

Coinepay supports bank deposit, mobile-wallet payouts and cash pickup for global remittance. The options displayed for a particular Australia-to-India transfer can depend on the recipient and the selected route. Choose an available method that the recipient can actually use, then collect its required details before entering them.

Bank deposit: account number and IFSC

For an INR deposit to an Indian bank account, you will commonly need the recipient’s legal name, bank account number and IFSC. The IFSC is an 11-character code identifying an Indian bank branch for domestic payment routing. Ask the recipient to copy both the account number and IFSC from their bank’s own account details, rather than reconstructing either from memory. Enter the account number in the format their bank provides; there is no single account-number length that applies to every Indian bank.

India does not use a national IBAN format. Do not invent an IBAN or substitute an Australian BSB, a U.S. routing number or another country’s bank code for an IFSC. If the transfer instructions instead specify a direct international bank wire, ask the receiving bank for its applicable SWIFT/BIC and any correspondent-bank instructions. Those requirements can differ from the details used for an INR payout routed locally. Follow the fields shown for your selected transfer, and ask the recipient’s bank if its instructions are unclear.

UPI and eligible mobile-wallet payout

If a UPI payout appears as an option, ask the recipient for their active UPI ID and confirm the associated name with them. An eligible UPI transfer can use that ID instead of bank-account details. UPI is a payment system used through compatible apps; it is not itself an Indian bank account number or IFSC. Ask the recipient to check that their UPI ID can receive the payment before you confirm it.

If Coinepay displays a separate mobile-wallet option, use the wallet details requested in that flow and make sure the recipient’s wallet is eligible to receive an international remittance. Indian rules can make wallet eligibility dependent on the receiving route and the wallet holder’s verification status. Do not assume that every app or wallet supports a payout from Australia; rely on the available options shown for your transfer.

Cash pickup

If cash pickup is available for the selected transfer, choose the offered pickup location or partner and enter the recipient’s name exactly as shown on their valid identification. After you send, share the pickup instructions and any reference information provided for the recipient. They should bring the identification and information specified in those instructions and check the location’s opening hours before travelling. Cash pickup depends on the receiving route and local requirements, so follow the instructions for this transfer rather than assuming every location can pay it out.

Send money from Australia to India: step by step

  1. Sign in to Coinepay. Open the mobile app or dashboard and start a Global Remittance transfer. Complete any identity-verification prompts shown before proceeding.
  2. Choose India as the destination. Select the sending and receiving currencies displayed for the transfer, and enter the amount you want to send or have the recipient receive. Check that INR is selected if you intend an Indian-rupee payout.
  3. Select an available payout method. Choose bank deposit, an eligible UPI or wallet option, or cash pickup as offered in the transfer flow. Enter the recipient’s full legal name and the details required for that method. Double-check every digit and character, particularly an account number, IFSC or UPI ID.
  4. Provide the payment purpose if requested. Describe the real reason for the transfer. If Coinepay asks for information or documents about the payment or source of funds, provide accurate supporting information through the requested process.
  5. Review before confirming. Read the recipient and payout details, the exchange rate, the fees and the amounts shown in Coinepay. Correct any mistake before you confirm the transfer.
  6. Confirm and track. Submit the transfer only when the details are right. Use Coinepay’s transfer status tracking in the app or dashboard, and retain the transfer reference and confirmation for your records.

What the recipient should check in India

Tell the recipient which payout method you selected. For a bank deposit, they should confirm that the named account can receive the payment and ask their bank about any information it needs to identify an incoming remittance. A receiving bank may request a payment purpose or supporting instructions, particularly for a commercial receipt. For UPI or a wallet, the recipient should verify that the ID or wallet is active and eligible. For cash pickup, they should use the specific collection instructions supplied for the transfer.

Indian requirements vary by receiving route. For example, rules for a personal remittance received through the Money Transfer Service Scheme differ from rules for a bank credit under the Rupee Drawing Arrangement. Do not assume that a rule for one route applies to every transfer to India. If the payment is a gift, business receipt or another transaction with potential tax consequences, the recipient should seek guidance appropriate to their circumstances. Keep the payment description and supporting records accurate.

Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and applicable local regulations. Coinepay may request documents showing the purpose of the payment or source of funds. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions, and customers and counterparties are screened against sanctions lists.

Troubleshooting an India transfer

  • Wrong recipient details: If you notice a name, account number, IFSC, UPI ID or pickup detail is wrong, check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly with the transfer reference and correct information. Do not assume details can be changed after submission. An incorrect account or routing code can delay a payout or cause it to fail.
  • Compliance review: If Coinepay requests identity, purpose-of-payment or source-of-funds documents, respond through the requested channel with genuine information. An incomplete or inaccurate payment purpose can lead to further questions or rejection. Do not send a second transfer to try to bypass a review.
  • Transfer not yet received: First check status tracking and confirm the recipient is checking the right account, UPI ID, wallet or pickup location. Recipient-bank processing, verification, local requirements and pickup-location hours can affect when funds become available. If the status and the recipient’s information do not match, contact support with the transfer reference.
  • Returned or failed transfer: Read the status or message shown in Coinepay, then ask support what correction or next step is needed. Confirm the recipient’s details directly with them before setting up another transfer. Review the exchange rate, fees and amounts shown for any new transfer before confirming it.

If you are unsure which India payout option to select or which bank instructions apply, check the choices shown in your Coinepay account or ask Coinepay support before sending.
