You can send money to Ecuador with Coinepay Global Remittance. Ecuador uses the US dollar (USD), but the details you need depend on whether your recipient will receive a bank deposit, a mobile-wallet payout or cash pickup. This guide explains how to prepare those details, review your transfer and follow its status.

What you need before sending

Register for a Coinepay account and complete identity verification before starting a transfer. You can manage the transfer in the Coinepay mobile app or the 24/7 self-service dashboard. Have your own accurate identity and payment information ready, as well as the recipient’s full legal name exactly as it appears on their identification and, where applicable, their receiving account.

Ask the recipient which payout method they can use. Collect the details for that method directly from them rather than copying an old transfer: a changed account, wallet number or pickup location can interrupt delivery. The app will show the fields needed for the payout option you select.

  • For a bank deposit: Ask for the account holder’s legal name, bank name and account number. The recipient should check whether their bank or the selected payout provider also requires an ID number, address, mobile number or branch details.
  • For a mobile wallet: Ask for the recipient’s registered wallet details, such as the mobile number or wallet identifier requested in the app. Confirm that the wallet is registered in the recipient’s legal name.
  • For cash pickup: Use the recipient’s name as it appears on their acceptable photo ID. Check the pickup instructions shown for the available provider and location.

Coinepay transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. You may be asked for documents explaining the purpose of the payment or the source of funds. Give accurate information about both parties and the transfer.

Choose how the recipient gets money in Ecuador

Coinepay supports transfers to Ecuador and offers bank deposit, mobile-wallet and cash-pickup payouts. Check the options displayed for your particular transfer in the app: an individual wallet or pickup location may not be available for every route or recipient.

Payout methodWhat the recipient should prepareWhat to check before sending
Bank depositAn eligible account and the bank’s receiving instructions.Account holder name, bank name, account number and any additional information requested for that bank.
Mobile walletAn eligible wallet registered to the recipient. The exact wallet option available in the app and the registered name and number or identifier.
Cash pickupAcceptable photo ID and the information specified in the pickup instructions. The available pickup location, its requirements and the recipient’s ability to visit it.

Bank deposit: account numbers and bank codes

Ecuador does not have a nationally registered IBAN format. For an Ecuadorian bank deposit, use the receiving bank’s account number; do not make up an IBAN. Ask the recipient to obtain the correct account details from their bank. Banco Pichincha, Banco Guayaquil, Banco del Pacífico and Produbanco are examples of banks used for Ecuador payouts through remittance services, but a bank’s appearance elsewhere does not establish its availability for your Coinepay transfer.

If the payment instructions call for an international bank wire, the receiving bank may provide its SWIFT/BIC. It may also specify an intermediary or correspondent bank and that bank’s account and routing details. Enter these only when requested, and copy them from the receiving bank’s current instructions. A US ABA routing number in correspondent-bank instructions identifies the US intermediary; it is not an Ecuadorian beneficiary-account code. Likewise, IFSC and CLABE are not Ecuadorian bank-account codes. Do not substitute one of these for the recipient’s account number.

There is no single account-number length or branch-code rule to apply to every Ecuadorian bank. If the app asks for a local bank or branch code and the recipient is unsure, ask their bank or Coinepay support what information is required for the selected payout route before confirming.

Mobile wallet and cash pickup

Mobile-wallet payout is an option for Ecuador, but eligible wallets can depend on the sending route and recipient location. Rather than assuming a named wallet will work, select from the options actually offered for your transfer. The recipient should verify that their wallet can receive the payout and that its registered details match the information you enter.

For cash pickup, the recipient generally needs acceptable photo ID whose name matches the transfer. The selected payout provider may also require a transfer reference or tracking number, the expected amount and sender details. Follow the instructions supplied for your transfer; do not assume that one provider’s reference-number format applies to another. The recipient should check the pickup location’s opening hours and identification requirements before travelling.

How to send money to Ecuador step by step

  1. Open Coinepay Global Remittance. Sign in to your verified account through the app or dashboard and start a new transfer.
  2. Choose Ecuador and the payout currency. Select Ecuador as the destination and review the currency options shown. Ecuador’s local currency is USD. If you are sending from a different currency, check the displayed conversion details.
  3. Select the payout method. Choose an available bank deposit, mobile-wallet or cash-pickup option. Enter the recipient’s full legal name and the details requested for that option. Compare every entry with the recipient’s bank instructions, wallet registration or ID.
  4. Review the transfer. Check the sender and recipient information, amount, payout method and destination. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm; review those details and the recipient amount displayed in the app.
  5. Confirm and track it. Confirm only when the information is correct. Open the transfer in Coinepay to follow its status. Keep its reference and share pickup information with the recipient only when the instructions say it is needed.

If a requested payout option does not appear, do not enter details for a different method to force the transfer through. Check the options available in the app or ask support about the intended payout.

What the recipient should expect

For a bank deposit, the recipient should monitor the account named in the transfer and respond if their bank requests information to process the incoming payment. For a wallet payout, they should check the registered wallet and any notifications from its provider. For cash pickup, they should wait for the appropriate collection instructions, then bring the required ID and transfer information to an eligible location.

Cross-border transfers must carry information identifying the sender and recipient, together with an account or transaction reference. The receiving institution may verify identity or ask about the purpose or source of funds. Whether a payment has tax implications depends on what it represents, such as a personal gift or payment for work; an incoming remittance is not automatically treated the same way in every circumstance. If the recipient needs tax advice, they should consult a qualified local adviser.

Troubleshooting an Ecuador transfer

The recipient details are wrong

If you notice an incorrect name, account number, bank code or wallet detail before confirming, correct it first. If you have already confirmed, check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly with the transfer reference and the correct details. Do not start a replacement transfer until you understand what has happened to the first one. Incorrect or incomplete bank instructions can result in a delay, rejection or return.

The transfer is under review or has not arrived

Check its status in Coinepay and look for any request for additional documents. Identity and regulatory checks, the recipient institution’s processing, wallet or pickup-provider availability, and pickup opening hours can all affect when funds become available. If Coinepay requests the purpose of the transfer or proof of source of funds, supply genuine documents through the indicated process. Ask support about an unexplained status rather than trying to bypass a review.

The transfer was returned

Read the status and any notice associated with the transfer, then contact support if the reason or next step is unclear. Before sending again, have the recipient confirm the legal name, account or wallet details and any bank-specific instructions. Review the new transfer’s rate, fees and payout details before confirming it.
