You can book American Airlines flights and buy Admirals Club® access online, but check payment eligibility before relying on a Coinepay virtual card. American Airlines’ platform terms say it does not accept virtual credit cards. That restriction does not tell you whether your particular card is eligible: contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets American’s requirement before you buy, and check with American Airlines if you need clarification on its checkout rules. Do not assume a completed card entry means a purchase will be accepted.

What can you buy from American Airlines?

A flight ticket is a one-time booking, not a subscription. Available fare products depend on the itinerary; American’s published U.S.-origin names include Basic, Main, Main Plus, Main Select, Main Flexible, Premium Economy, Business, Flagship® Business, Flagship® Business Plus, Flagship® First and Flagship® First Flexible. Compare the fare rules shown for your flight before paying. There is no single ticket price: your itinerary and fare selection determine the checkout total.

For lounge access, American offers two paid annual options: Admirals Club® membership, which includes the member and up to two guests as well as partner-lounge access, and single membership, for the member only without guest or partner-lounge access. An Admirals Club® One-Day Pass is a separate purchase, not an annual membership. AAdvantage® enrollment is free and is required for annual membership. AAdvantage Gold®, Platinum®, Platinum Pro® and Executive Platinum® are loyalty status levels, not paid subscription tiers.

At the time of writing (October 2026), American listed annual Admirals Club® membership from USD $1,200 to $1,400, depending on AAdvantage status; single membership was USD $750 per year, and a One-Day Pass was USD $79 when available. Check American Airlines’ official membership page for current rates, eligibility and terms before purchasing.

What do you need before checkout?

  • An eligible payment method: American lists major credit cards and says it accepts most major debit cards, but its platform terms exclude virtual credit cards. Ask Coinepay support whether your card meets the merchant’s requirement before attempting payment. Coinepay cannot override American’s rules.
  • A Coinepay account: Register and complete identity verification before using card services. Coinepay issues a virtual card number, expiry date and CVV, accessible through its self-service dashboard or mobile app. Check your available funds and any applicable card settings there.
  • Your real booking and billing information: Have each traveler’s details ready and enter your genuine billing details. Do not substitute another address or country to try to pass a payment check.
  • An AAdvantage® account if buying an annual lounge membership: Create or sign in to your account with American Airlines. For a flight, follow the account or guest-booking options displayed during checkout.

You can manage Coinepay in its iOS app, Android app or self-service dashboard. If you need to know a card setting or whether funds cover a particular charge, check the app or contact support rather than relying on an estimate.

How to pay for an American Airlines flight

  1. Search on aa.com or in the American app. Enter your route, dates and passengers, then compare the flights and fare conditions. Review baggage, seat and change terms for the fare you select rather than assuming every fare includes the same benefits.
  2. Review the full price. Check the itinerary, passenger names and amount on the review-and-pay screen. American permits one card for an aa.com booking, so be prepared to cover the card payment with a single eligible card.
  3. Choose the appropriate payment-card country. American instructs customers to select the country where the payment card was issued. If you do not know that country for your Coinepay card, ask Coinepay support; do not guess or select your residence as a substitute. American says fares may be recalculated in local currency for cards issued in Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Chile, Mexico or the UK. For countries not listed, fares are shown in USD.
  4. Enter payment details only if the card is eligible. If Coinepay support has confirmed your card meets American’s requirement, enter its number, expiry and CVV and your real billing details. Complete any verification requested during payment. Check the final amount and submit the purchase once.
  5. Confirm the result. Look for American’s booking confirmation and ticket information. If the page stalls or displays an error, check your trip and payment status before trying again to avoid an unintended duplicate booking.

If American offers a free hold for your itinerary, you can select it on the review and pay screen. To pay later, open Your trips → Pay for trip and enter an eligible payment method before the hold expires. A hold is not a ticket; verify that payment and ticketing are complete.

How to buy Admirals Club® access

  1. Choose annual membership or a One-Day Pass. On American’s Admirals Club® membership page, compare the guest and partner-lounge rules for Admirals Club® membership and single membership. A One-Day Pass is subject to availability and lounge capacity.
  2. Sign in where required. Use your AAdvantage® account to purchase annual membership online. For an online One-Day Pass, an AAdvantage® member buying for themselves signs in; a nonmember or someone purchasing for another person can use guest purchase.
  3. Review payment eligibility and terms. Confirm with Coinepay support that your card meets American’s virtual-credit-card restriction before entering it. Review the rate, member information and payment details shown by American.
  4. Decide whether to opt in to renewal. For annual membership, American places an Automatic renewal checkbox just before payment. Select it only if you want the card on file charged at the applicable annual renewal rate. Finish checkout and retain the purchase confirmation.

Annual membership fees are generally nonrefundable and nontransferable. One-Day Passes are nonrefundable, non-changeable and nontransferable; they must be activated within 12 months of purchase, and admission depends on capacity. Check these conditions before submitting payment.

What if the card is declined or payment does not complete?

  • Merchant card restriction: Start here. American says it does not accept virtual credit cards; its separately listed virtual gift cards are not the same product. Do not repeatedly retry a card that fails this requirement. Ask Coinepay support to confirm eligibility, and use another payment method American accepts if necessary.
  • Insufficient available funds: Compare your Coinepay available funds with the final checkout total, including any amount displayed after currency recalculation. Check the app for funding options or contact support. Do not assume the first search price is the final charge.
  • Billing mismatch: Check for typing errors in the name and billing details. Use your real information and confirm which details should accompany your card with Coinepay support. If the issue persists, ask American to review the failed payment rather than changing your address to an inaccurate one.
  • Verification or 3-D Secure: If a verification prompt appears, complete it through the legitimate flow and check whether your Coinepay app requires action. If no prompt arrives or it fails, contact Coinepay support with the time and amount of the attempt. Do not assume that every American checkout uses the same authentication flow.
  • Country or region check: Recheck the selected card-issuance country and any region-specific payment conditions shown at checkout. Ask Coinepay for the correct card information and American for its applicable booking rules; do not use false details or tools to evade a regional restriction.

If payment appears pending but you have no ticket or membership confirmation, check the relevant American account or trip before retrying. Keep the error text and transaction time for support, but never send a card’s full number or CVV in a message.

How do refunds and automatic renewal work?

For a flight bought at least seven days before departure, American says you can cancel within 24 hours of purchase for a refund. After that window, cash refunds for nonrefundable tickets are restricted, though exceptions may apply, including qualifying significant schedule changes. Read your fare’s conditions and request any eligible refund through American Airlines.

To prevent the next automatic Admirals Club® membership charge, opt out at least 35 days before the term ends through your Admirals Club® account or by calling American at 800-237-7971. American says ordinary renewals are processed 30 days before term-end. Its membership page provides an Update payment options link leading to Admirals Club® account sign-in; follow the options displayed after signing in to manage the card on file.

If an automatic renewal has already started a new term, American’s terms allow cancellation and a refund of that new-term fee within seven days, provided you have not visited an Admirals Club® or partner lounge during the new term. Review the applicable terms promptly; removing a card from Coinepay is not a substitute for changing a renewal instruction with American.
