United Airlines sells several different products from one website: flight fares, annual subscriptions such as Economy Plus and checked baggage, and United Club memberships. Each has its own checkout and refund rules. This guide shows how to set up a Coinepay virtual card and use it at United's checkout, then walks through the most common reasons a card is declined and how to resolve them.

Coinepay issues virtual cards with an instant card number, expiry date and CVV that you can use for online purchases, including travel bookings. Card issuance is handled by licensed partner financial institutions, and you must complete identity verification before the card is active.

Before you start: what you need

  • A verified Coinepay account. If you do not have one yet, register here and complete KYC first.
  • A Coinepay virtual card created in the dashboard or the mobile app (iOS or Google Play), with its number, expiry and CVV ready.
  • Enough available balance on the card for the full amount you intend to pay. Fares and subscriptions are charged in a single transaction.
  • A United (MileagePlus) account. United directs customers to sign in to buy, activate or manage subscriptions.
  • Your real billing details — the name and address on your Coinepay profile — which you will enter exactly at checkout.

United's business-booking page states that "all major credit cards" are accepted. An authoritative, current brand-by-brand list for consumer checkout is not published, and United can apply its own card checks. If you are unsure whether your Coinepay card meets a specific requirement, contact Coinepay support to confirm before you buy.

Step 1: Create and fund your Coinepay virtual card

  1. Sign in to the Coinepay dashboard or app.
  2. Create a virtual card and note the card number, expiry date and CVV.
  3. Add enough funds to cover the price you expect, plus a small buffer so the authorization does not fail on a rounding or currency conversion.
  4. Check that the billing name and address on your Coinepay profile are accurate — United's payment screen will verify them.

Step 2: Choose what you are buying on united.com

What you select changes the checkout you see.

Flights

United offers tiered shopping categories: basic, standard and flexible in Economy, and base, standard and flexible for United Premium Plus and United Polaris on specified routes (the premium-cabin rollout began in select markets in April 2026). Search your route, pick a fare, add passenger details, then continue to the payment page.

Economy Plus or checked baggage subscriptions

On United's subscriptions page, sign in, then open the Economy Plus purchase flow. United asks you to choose a travel region and the number of travelers. The purchase page shows "Select subscription options," a running total and a "Continue to payment" button; there is also a gift-purchase choice.

United Club membership

United reports two membership names, Individual and All Access. Open the United Club membership page while signed in to start the purchase.

Step 3: Pay with your Coinepay card

  1. On the payment screen, select to pay by card.
  2. Enter your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV.
  3. Enter the billing name and address exactly as they appear on your Coinepay profile.
  4. If your card uses 3‑D Secure, approve the confirmation prompt in the Coinepay app or via the one-time code.
  5. Review the total and confirm. Save the confirmation email or subscription reference.

What prices to expect

Prices vary by region, product and when you buy, so always confirm the figure United shows at checkout rather than relying on third-party numbers. For context only, at the time of writing (based on reports from mid-2026), U.S. Economy Plus subscription pricing was reported from August 1, 2026 at $799 / $1,099 / $1,399 for the continental U.S. region (subscriber only, plus one, or plus eight), with higher tiers for North and Central America and Global regions; United Club was reported at $750/year Individual and $1,400/year standard All Access. These figures are unconfirmed against the live checkout and may have changed — check United's official pricing page for your market. In some markets the subscription result page can display a USD total of zero before you select options; that is not a payable quote.

Managing auto-renew and refunds

United's subscription management page lets you review subscription details and auto-renew options, and it directs renewal-setting changes to My Account. Note that United states all subscriptions are nonrefundable, with possible partial refunds only for existing Wi‑Fi and Economy Plus holders after a service disruption.

For tickets, eligible refunds normally return to the original payment method — the same Coinepay card you paid with — unless a qualifying ticket customer requests an electronic travel certificate. Keep that card active in your Coinepay account so a refund can post. U.S. consumer rules require an airline, for a ticket bought at least seven days before departure, to offer either a 24-hour penalty-free cancellation with refund or a 24-hour unpaid hold. For covered flights to, from or within the U.S., a cancellation or significant schedule change generally triggers an automatic refund if you decline an alternative.

Troubleshooting: card declined or payment failed

Travelers have reported messages such as "We're unable to process this transaction due to an issue with your credit or debit card company" and "unable to process request, try again later," and occasional duplicate pending charges. The cause in those reports was not confirmed. Work through the checks below before retrying.

Insufficient balance

Confirm the available balance covers the full amount. Subscriptions and annual memberships are large single charges; a fare and any extras are billed together. Top up and leave a small buffer, then retry once.

Billing address mismatch

United verifies the billing details against your card record. Make sure the name, street, city, postal code and country match your Coinepay profile exactly. Even a small difference can cause a decline.

3‑D Secure not completed

If a verification prompt appears, approve it promptly in the Coinepay app. A timed-out or missed confirmation will stop the payment. Make sure your app is open and notifications are enabled.

Merchant or region checks

United applies point-of-sale and regional rules; for example, Economy Plus subscription regions are reported as continental U.S., North and Central America, and Global, and country-by-country purchase eligibility can vary. Buy from the correct regional United site for your real location, using your real billing details. Do not use any method to disguise your location or identity — doing so breaks United's terms and can cause a failed or reversed charge.

Duplicate pending charges

If a payment appears to fail but you see a pending charge, do not immediately retry multiple times. Check your Coinepay transaction list and United confirmation emails first. Pending authorizations that do not settle are typically released; if a charge looks stuck, contact Coinepay support with the transaction details.

Still declined?

Try a different supported payment method if available, confirm your card is active and has no spending limit that would block the amount, and reach out to Coinepay support to confirm whether the authorization reached the card. You can also message the team on Telegram. For anything specific to United's booking or subscription rules, contact United directly.

Tips for a smooth checkout

  • Fund the card before you reach the payment screen so the session does not expire.
  • Double-check whether you are buying a fare, a subscription or a membership — refund rules differ sharply.
  • Keep your confirmation and the card you used; refunds return to the original payment method.
  • Manage auto-renew from United's My Account to avoid an unexpected renewal charge.

Manage your card, balance and transaction history anytime from the Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app, available 24/7.

FAQ

Can I use a Coinepay virtual card to pay for United flights and subscriptions?

You can enter a Coinepay virtual card's number, expiry and CVV at United's payment screen like any other card. United says it accepts major credit cards but does not publish a full current brand-by-brand list for consumer checkout, and it applies its own card checks. If you are unsure your card meets a requirement, contact Coinepay support before you buy.

Why was my card declined at united.com?

Common causes are insufficient balance, a billing address that does not match your Coinepay profile, an uncompleted 3-D Secure prompt, or regional checks on the United site you are using. Travelers have also reported generic 'unable to process this transaction' messages whose cause was not confirmed. Work through each check, then retry once.

Are United subscriptions refundable to my Coinepay card?

United states all subscriptions are nonrefundable, with possible partial refunds only for existing Wi-Fi and Economy Plus holders after a service disruption. For tickets, eligible refunds normally return to the original payment method, so keep the Coinepay card you paid with active in your account.

How much does United Economy Plus or United Club cost?

Prices vary by region and change over time, so confirm the figure United shows at checkout. Reported U.S. examples from 2026 (unconfirmed against live checkout) included Economy Plus from $799 for the continental U.S. region and United Club at $750/year Individual; always check United's official pricing page for your market.

How do I stop my United subscription from auto-renewing?

Sign in and open United's subscription management page in My Account, where you can review subscription details and change auto-renew settings. Do this before the renewal date, since subscriptions are nonrefundable.
