Coinepay Global Remittance lets you send money to Turkey (Türkiye) from your verified account, with the exchange rate and any fees shown clearly before you confirm. This guide walks through what the sender needs, the local payout methods you can choose, and how to track the transfer once it is on its way. Turkey's local currency is the Turkish lira (TRY), and getting the recipient's details right the first time is the single biggest factor in a smooth payout.

Before you start: what the sender needs

To send money anywhere with Coinepay you first need an account and completed identity verification (KYC). If you have not registered yet, create your Coinepay account and finish verification before you try to send. You can manage everything from the 24/7 dashboard or the Coinepay mobile app for iOS and Android.

Have the following ready about your recipient:

  • Full legal name exactly as it appears on their bank account or ID — a name that does not match the receiving account is a common cause of returns.
  • The payout method you want to use (bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup) and the matching details for it.
  • Contact details for the recipient, so they can be notified and, where needed, present ID to collect the funds.

Because transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations, Coinepay may ask you for the purpose of the transfer or the source of funds. Having a clear, honest answer ready helps your transfer move through any review quickly.

Payout methods for Turkey

Coinepay supports bank deposit, mobile wallet and cash pickup payouts. Choose the one that suits your recipient and collect the details below.

Bank account deposit (IBAN)

Bank deposit is the most common way to receive an international transfer in Turkey. A Turkish IBAN is 26 characters long: it begins with TR, followed by two check digits, a five-digit bank code, a reserved digit, and a 16-character account-number field. For a bank payout you will typically need:

  • The recipient's full legal name as registered with the bank.
  • Their Turkish IBAN (starting with TR).
  • The receiving bank's name and its SWIFT/BIC code.
  • Any branch name or code, address, or transfer-purpose information the banks request.

A few important points: the receiving bank supplies its own BIC, so ask the recipient to confirm it with their bank if unsure. IFSC codes, CLABE numbers and US routing numbers are not substitutes for a Turkish IBAN or bank BIC. Some providers also cannot pay TRY into certain account types — for example, savings accounts may be rejected by Turkish banks for deposit services — so if your recipient only has a savings account, ask them for a standard current (vadesiz) account IBAN.

Mobile wallet

Mobile-wallet payout is supported across many markets, and the available wallet provider can depend on the sending route. If you select a wallet payout for Turkey, you will usually need the recipient's full name and the mobile number or wallet ID registered to their wallet account. The app will show which wallet options are currently available for your transfer — pick the one your recipient actually uses, and make sure their name matches what is on the wallet account.

Cash pickup

Cash pickup lets your recipient collect the money in person at a participating agent location. For this method you typically need the recipient's full legal name exactly as on their government ID. Once the transfer is ready, share the reference or tracking number Coinepay provides with your recipient. They will bring valid photo identification matching the name on the transfer to collect the funds. Remind them to check the name is spelled correctly before you confirm, as agents will not pay out on a mismatched name.

Step by step: sending the transfer

  1. Open Global Remittance. Log in to the Coinepay app or dashboard and start a new transfer.
  2. Choose Turkey as the destination and select your payout currency and method (bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup). Turkey's local currency is the Turkish lira (TRY).
  3. Enter the recipient details for the method you picked — name and IBAN plus SWIFT/BIC for a bank deposit, name and wallet number for a mobile wallet, or name for cash pickup. Double-check every digit of the IBAN.
  4. Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay shows the rate and any fees clearly on screen before you commit. Check the amount your recipient will receive and confirm it matches what you intend to send.
  5. Answer any compliance prompts, such as the purpose of the payment or the source of funds, if asked.
  6. Confirm the transfer. Review the summary once more, then submit.
  7. Track the status. Every transfer has status tracking in the app and dashboard, so you can follow it from sent to delivered. For cash pickup or some bank routes, share the tracking number with your recipient.

Recipient-side considerations in Turkey

Turkish banks generate and validate IBANs for the accounts used in transfers, so an accurate IBAN helps the payout land without manual intervention. Banks and other covered institutions in Turkey operate under anti-money-laundering rules and may identify customers and report qualifying transactions to MASAK, the national financial intelligence unit. Your recipient may be asked routine questions by their bank about an incoming international payment.

If the money is a gift or an inheritance, inheritance-and-gift-tax declaration rules may apply on the recipient's side. These are matters for your recipient and, if needed, a local tax adviser — Coinepay cannot give tax advice. Encourage your recipient to keep a record of the transfer for their own files.

Troubleshooting

Wrong or mismatched recipient details

An incorrect IBAN or account number, or a recipient name that does not match the account, can cause the transfer to be rejected or returned. Before you confirm, verify the name spelling, the full 26-character IBAN and the SWIFT/BIC with your recipient. If you spot a mistake after sending, contact Coinepay support immediately through the app.

Compliance review

Security and compliance checks — including requests for identification or evidence of where the funds came from — can place a transfer on hold. This is normal. Respond promptly with the documents requested so screening can be completed.

Delays

International bank payments can be slowed by intermediary-bank processing and by weekends or public holidays in either country. Mobile wallet and cash pickup timing depends on the provider and location. Use the status tracker to see where your transfer is, and avoid resending the same payment while the first one is still in progress.

Returned transfers

Unsupported payout details, an ineligible account type (such as a savings account for a TRY deposit service), or details that fail validation can cause a payment to be refunded. If a transfer is returned, check the details with your recipient, correct them and send again, or reach out to support for help.

For anything specific to your account, rates, limits or delivery estimates, check the latest figures in the Coinepay app or contact our support team or Telegram. Transfers to sanctioned persons or jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions are not possible.

FAQ

What details do I need to send money to a Turkish bank account?

You need the recipient's full legal name, their 26-character Turkish IBAN (starting with TR), and the receiving bank's name and SWIFT/BIC code. A branch name or code and a transfer-purpose note may also be requested. IFSC, CLABE and US routing numbers cannot replace a Turkish IBAN or BIC.

Which payout methods can I use to send money to Turkey?

Coinepay supports bank account deposit using an IBAN, mobile wallet payout, and cash pickup at an agent. The app shows which options are available for your transfer, along with the details each one requires.

What currency will my recipient receive in Turkey?

Turkey's local currency is the Turkish lira (TRY). Coinepay shows the exchange rate and any fees clearly before you confirm, so you can see the amount your recipient will get.

Why might my transfer to Turkey be delayed or returned?

Common causes are an incorrect IBAN or a name that doesn't match the account, compliance checks that request ID or source-of-funds evidence, an ineligible account type such as a savings account, and intermediary-bank or holiday delays. Verify details before sending and track the status in the app.

Do I need to verify my identity before sending to Turkey?

Yes. You must register and complete KYC before using Coinepay's services. Transfers are also subject to sanctions screening and local regulations, and Coinepay may ask for the purpose of the transfer or source of funds.
