You can use eBay to buy an item or, as a seller, subscribe to a Store. Those are separate payment flows: buyers enter a payment method at checkout, while US sellers manage a payment method for recurring selling costs. This guide explains where to enter your Coinepay virtual card in each flow and what to check if a payment does not go through. Card availability and acceptance depend on the applicable eBay marketplace and transaction.

What you need before you start

  • A Coinepay account: Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. You can manage your card through the 24/7 self-service dashboard or the Coinepay mobile app for iOS and Android.
  • Your virtual card details: Coinepay issues a card number, expiry date and CVV instantly. Open your card in Coinepay when you are ready to enter those details.
  • Enough available funds: Check the amount available for the purchase or recurring charge in Coinepay. For a purchase, account for the order total shown at checkout, including any shipping and taxes.
  • Your real account details: Use your own identity and accurate billing and shipping information. Check that the payment method and item are available to you in your eBay marketplace.

If you only want to buy an item, you do not need an eBay Store subscription. If you want a US Store subscription, eBay says you need a seller account and a linked checking account. The Store fee is charged monthly, including when you select a yearly renewal term.

How to pay for an eBay item

  1. Sign in or create an eBay account. Use eBay’s official site or app for your marketplace and provide your real details. Select the item you want to buy, then proceed to checkout.
  2. Check the order. Review the listing, quantity, shipping address, delivery details and full amount before choosing how to pay. Payment options can vary by listing and checkout.
  3. Select the card option. If Credit or debit card is available, select it. Open your Coinepay dashboard or app and enter the virtual card number, expiry date and CVV as displayed there.
  4. Enter accurate billing information. Use your real billing details. Check every field before continuing; a mismatch or typing error can prevent the payment from completing.
  5. Confirm the purchase. Follow any payment verification prompt that appears, review the final order details and select Confirm and pay. Check the order status in eBay rather than assuming an attempted payment completed.

For US item checkout, eBay identifies Visa, Mastercard and Discover as card types, although a listing may not offer every type. eBay says American Express is not accepted on eBay. Other payment options listed for many US categories include Apple Pay, Google Pay, Venmo, Klarna and PayPal; what you can actually use is determined at checkout. Check your Coinepay card details and the available eBay options before relying on the card for a time-sensitive order. If you need help establishing whether your card meets a checkout requirement, contact Coinepay support before you buy.

How to set up payment for a US eBay Store subscription

A Store is a seller subscription, not a buyer membership. In the US, the Store packages are Starter, Basic, Premium, Anchor and Enterprise. eBay offers monthly and yearly renewal terms for applicable packages, with fees charged monthly. Review the current package prices and terms on eBay’s official Store pricing and subscription pages before committing; names, availability and pricing differ in other marketplaces.

  1. Prepare your seller account. Sign in to your US eBay seller account and make sure the checking account required for Store sign-up is linked. Review your selling eligibility and any selling limits; a Store’s listing allowance does not remove those limits.
  2. Choose a Store package. In eBay’s Store sign-up flow, compare the packages and select Select and review for the one you want. Choose the renewal term and Store name, then review the order and terms before selecting Submit order.
  3. Set a method for selling costs. In the US seller account, go to My eBay → Payments → Add payment option. eBay lets sellers add a card or linked bank account and designate a method as Preferred for selling costs. Store subscriptions are among the costs this method can cover. If the card option is available to your account, enter your Coinepay card details and follow eBay’s prompts.
  4. Check the subscription and billing method. Go to My eBay → Subscriptions to review the subscription. Verify the preferred payment method in Payments and monitor subsequent monthly charges. Adding a card as a selling-cost method is different from entering it at buyer checkout.

Do not assume an item-checkout card rule also describes seller subscription billing. Check the payment choices shown in your seller account and ask eBay about its billing requirements if a method cannot be added. For help checking your Coinepay card, use Coinepay support.

What changes in other eBay marketplaces?

Store products are regional. Canada lists Basic, Premium and Anchor Stores; the UK calls its tiers Basic, Featured and Anchor Shops. Germany lists Basis-Shop, Top-Shop, Premium-Shop and Platin-Shop. Australia uses Pro Starter, Pro Basic, Pro Featured and Pro Anchor. Australian Store subscriptions moved to corresponding Pro plans on May 12, 2026. Check the official eBay pages for your marketplace for current prices, eligibility, billing instructions and cancellation terms rather than following US account steps blindly. Use the marketplace associated with your real location and account details; a card is not a way around regional eligibility rules.

Why was my eBay card payment declined?

A decline does not, by itself, identify the cause. Start with the order or billing page, then check the following without repeatedly submitting unchanged details:

  • Insufficient available funds: Compare the amount available in Coinepay with the full amount eBay is attempting to charge. For a Store, consider that its subscription fee recurs monthly. Check the app or contact Coinepay support if you need to understand a card restriction or available amount.
  • Incorrect card or billing details: Re-enter the number, expiry and CVV from Coinepay, and check the billing details for errors. eBay also identifies expired or unactivated cards as possible checkout problems. Use your real billing information; do not substitute a fabricated address.
  • Payment verification or 3-D Secure: If a verification challenge appears, complete it through the legitimate prompt and return to eBay to check the result. If the challenge fails, disappears or never completes, contact Coinepay support with the time and amount of the attempted charge. Do not assume every eBay payment will trigger a challenge.
  • Merchant, listing or region checks: Confirm that card payment is offered for that listing or seller-billing flow and that the transaction is permitted for your actual location and account. If eBay restricts a card type or country for your transaction, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets the requirement before you buy; do not try to work around eBay’s checks.
  • Other checkout issues: eBay also lists a daily transaction limit and an outdated browser among possible problems. Check applicable card settings in Coinepay, refresh or update your browser, and ask the relevant support team to investigate if the issue continues.

When seeking help, distinguish an item purchase from a seller subscription charge. Provide the exact error shown, marketplace, attempted amount and time, but never send your full card number or CVV in an ordinary support message.

How to manage or cancel a US Store subscription

US Store subscriptions renew automatically unless changed or cancelled. To review yours, open My eBay → Subscriptions. To cancel, use Cancel subscription there and read the terms displayed before confirming. eBay says Store fees and benefits cease from the first day of the following month, subject to its subscription terms.

A monthly term has no early-termination fee, but charges for the applicable mandatory period or cancellation month can still apply. Early cancellation of a yearly term generally incurs an early-termination fee. Check your particular term in eBay before cancelling; removing a payment method is not a substitute for cancelling a subscription. For Coinepay account or card questions, visit Coinepay or contact support.

FAQ

Do I need an eBay Store subscription to buy an item?

No. Buyers pay at item checkout. Store subscriptions are for sellers and use a separate billing flow.

Where do I add a Coinepay card for US eBay seller fees?

Go to My eBay → Payments → Add payment option. If you can add the card, designate it Preferred for selling costs and review the result in your account.

Why is my Coinepay card being declined at eBay checkout?

Possible causes include insufficient funds, incorrect card or billing details, a failed verification prompt, or a listing or regional payment restriction. Check the exact error and contact the relevant support team if needed.

Where can I cancel a US eBay Store subscription?

Go to My eBay → Subscriptions → Cancel subscription. Review your renewal term first, as charges or an early-termination fee may apply.
