Intercom bundles the Fin AI Agent with its customer-service platform, and new customers pick a plan, add seats and pay at a self-serve checkout. This guide explains what you need to pay for Intercom with a Coinepay virtual card, walks through sign-up and checkout, and covers the most common reasons a card is declined.

One thing to read first: Intercom's payment policy restricts certain card types for some charges. That restriction is explained below, along with the sensible next step before you buy.

What you need before you start

To subscribe to Intercom with a Coinepay virtual card, have the following ready:

  • A verified Coinepay account. If you do not have one yet, register and complete identity verification (KYC) first, since card services need that step. You can manage everything from the iOS app or Android app and the 24/7 dashboard.
  • A Coinepay virtual card issued in your account, with its card number, expiry date and CVV visible in the app.
  • Enough balance on the card to cover the charge. Intercom bills in USD, and annual plans are charged upfront for 12 months, so confirm your balance can cover the full amount.
  • Your real billing name and address. Use the details tied to your Coinepay account so the billing address matches during payment checks.
  • A business email address for the Intercom workspace.

A note on Intercom's card policy

Intercom's payment FAQ states that online payment accepts all major credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Stripe Link. It also states that invoices cannot be paid with debit or prepaid cards, PayPal or similar services, and that ACH or wire transfer is limited to contracted subscriptions. Intercom does not publish a list of accepted card brands.

Because of this policy, confirm that your Coinepay card meets Intercom's requirement before you try to pay. Contact Coinepay support to check your card details against Intercom's accepted-card policy, and review the current terms on intercom.com so there are no surprises at checkout.

Intercom plans and what they cost

The current Fin AI Agent + Intercom plans are Essential, Advanced and Expert. There is no permanent free plan, but a 14-day trial is available without a card. At the time of writing (October 2026), the published seat prices are:

PlanBilled annuallyBilled monthly
EssentialUS$29 per seat/monthUS$39 per seat/month
AdvancedUS$85 per seat/monthUS$99 per seat/month
ExpertUS$132 per seat/monthUS$139 per seat/month

These are seat prices, not necessarily your total bill. Fin resolutions are charged at US$0.99 per outcome, and some messaging channels add charges. A separate Fin AI Agent offering for an existing helpdesk starts from US$0.99 per outcome with a minimum commitment. Prices can change and vary, so always confirm the current figures on the official Intercom pricing page before you pay. Intercom bills in USD, prices exclude applicable taxes, and your card issuer may add a foreign-transaction charge.

Step by step: sign up and pay

  1. Start from the pricing page. On intercom.com, choose a plan and begin sign-up. Enter a business email, verify it, create a password and complete your company profile. The 14-day trial requires no card.
  2. Open the Coinepay app. While you set up Intercom, have your Coinepay virtual card ready. Copy the card number, expiry date and CVV, and note the billing name and address on your account.
  3. Go to self-serve checkout. Choose your plan, any add-ons, monthly or annual billing, and the number of seats. Remember that annual plan, seat and add-on charges are paid upfront for 12 months.
  4. Select Continue to payment. Enter your card details, or choose Apple Pay or Google Pay if your device supports a wallet linked to an eligible card.
  5. Enter billing details carefully. Use the exact name and address on your Coinepay account. A mismatch here is a common cause of declines.
  6. Complete any verification. If a 3-D Secure prompt appears, approve it through the method tied to your Coinepay account (for example an app confirmation).
  7. Confirm and review. After payment, your plan activates. Keep the invoice for your records.

If you started a Sales-led trial rather than a self-serve one, adding a card does not convert it. You must contact your Intercom Account Manager to move to a paid contract.

Where to manage billing later

Your billing contacts, address and payment method live under Settings → Subscription → Billing → Payment details. Invoices and the Pay Now option are under Settings → Subscription → Billing → Invoices. Update your card there whenever your Coinepay card details change.

Troubleshooting a declined card

Intercom does not publish a full list of exact checkout error messages, but its terms name expired payment methods and insufficient funds as reasons a payment may not settle. Work through these common causes:

Insufficient balance

Annual plans charge 12 months upfront, so the amount can be large. Check your Coinepay balance in the app and top up before retrying. Remember that taxes and a possible foreign-transaction charge add to the seat price.

Billing address mismatch

If the name or address you typed does not match the details registered to your card, the payment can fail. Re-enter them exactly as they appear in your Coinepay account.

3-D Secure not completed

If an extra verification step appears and is not approved, the charge is declined. Make sure you can receive the confirmation (for example in the Coinepay app) and complete it promptly.

Card type restriction

Intercom states that invoices cannot be paid with debit or prepaid cards. If a payment is rejected for this reason, do not try to work around it. Confirm with Coinepay support whether your card fits Intercom's accepted-card policy, and check Intercom's current terms.

Merchant region checks

Intercom blocks sign-up and purchase for customers in U.S.-sanctioned countries or on restricted-party lists. Workspaces also use region-specific US, EU or Australia login pages; signing in on the wrong regional page does not mean a paid subscription is unavailable. Use the correct regional login and your real location details.

A charge that appears then disappears

A charge followed by a reversal when you start a subscription may be a temporary authorization hold rather than a paid charge and refund. If you are unsure, check the transaction in your Coinepay app.

If an invoice payment fails

For a failed invoice, Intercom retries the charge up to four times over 28 days and freezes access on day 28 if every attempt fails. To restore access, update the card under Settings → Subscription → Billing and pay any outstanding invoices with Pay Now.

Cancellation and refunds

Self-serve cancellation is under Settings → Subscription → Billing → Payment details → Cancel subscription. Access continues through the paid period and the next renewal is stopped. Contract customers must give their Account Manager written notice at least 30 days before renewal, or the contract renews for another 12 months.

Fees are generally non-refundable, and an annual subscription cancelled early does not receive a prorated refund. For a refund review you must cancel first and then contact Intercom Support; approval is case by case. Monthly seat reductions can create credit toward a later invoice rather than a cash refund, and final usage charges may still be invoiced after cancellation.

FAQ

Can I pay for Intercom with a Coinepay virtual card?

You can enter a Coinepay virtual card at Intercom's checkout, but Intercom says invoices cannot be paid with debit or prepaid cards and accepts major credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Stripe Link. Confirm your card meets this policy with Coinepay support before you buy.

Do I need a card to try Intercom first?

No. Intercom offers a 14-day trial that requires no card. You start from the pricing page, verify a business email, create a password and complete your company profile. You add a card only when you convert a self-serve trial to a paid plan.

How much does Intercom cost?

At the time of writing (October 2026), seat prices are Essential US$29, Advanced US$85 and Expert US$132 per seat/month billed annually (higher billed monthly), plus Fin usage at US$0.99 per outcome. Prices vary and exclude tax, so check Intercom's official pricing page.

Why was my card declined at Intercom checkout?

Common causes are insufficient balance, a billing address that does not match your card, an unfinished 3-D Secure step, a restricted card type, or region checks. Fix the detail in your Coinepay app or Intercom billing settings and retry, using your real identity and address.

Can I get a refund if I cancel Intercom early?

Fees are generally non-refundable, and an annual plan cancelled early gets no prorated refund. Access continues through the paid period. For a refund review, cancel first, then contact Intercom Support; approval is decided case by case.
