You can subscribe to Cursor through its web checkout using a card that meets Cursor’s payment requirements. This guide explains how to prepare a Coinepay virtual card, choose a Cursor plan, complete checkout and handle common declines. Check your final amount and payment eligibility before confirming: having a virtual card does not mean Cursor will accept it.

What you need before subscribing

  • A Cursor account: Sign up through Cursor’s official site, or sign in if you already use the free Hobby plan. Hobby does not require a credit card.
  • A Coinepay account: Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. You can manage your card through the 24/7 self-service dashboard or the Coinepay mobile app on iOS and Google Play.
  • Your virtual card details: Coinepay provides a card number, expiry date and CVV when a card is issued. Check the Coinepay app for the card’s available funds and any applicable card settings or requirements.
  • Accurate billing information: Use your real name and billing details. The address entered at Cursor checkout should match the details associated with your payment method.

Cursor’s web self-serve checkout accepts major credit and debit cards. Cursor forum support specifically identifies Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards at Stripe checkout and cautions that prepaid or crypto-funded virtual cards may fail at checkout or renewal. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets Cursor’s requirements before you buy. Do not assume a successful first payment means future renewals will succeed.

Choose a Cursor plan and review the price

At the time of writing (October 2026), Cursor listed the following plans and prices. These are reference prices, not a promise of your checkout total. Check Cursor’s official pricing page and the amount shown at checkout before paying; listed USD prices exclude applicable tax.

Cursor Start has additional eligibility rules: it is India-only and requires Indian phone-number verification. Do not choose a region or billing address that is not yours, or use a VPN to try to bypass regional checks. Availability of individual Cursor models can also vary by provider and location, regardless of your paid plan. For Enterprise, ask Cursor sales about its invoice billing and wire-transfer options rather than expecting the individual Stripe checkout flow.

How to pay for an individual Cursor plan

  1. Set up your Coinepay card. After registration and KYC, obtain your virtual card details in Coinepay. Check its available funds against the amount you expect to pay, allowing for any tax displayed at Cursor checkout. For questions about card funding or settings, check the app or contact Coinepay support.
  2. Sign in to Cursor. Create an account through Cursor’s official sign-up page if you are new, then open Cursor’s dashboard. You can start on Hobby without entering a card.
  3. Open billing. Go to cursor.com/dashboard/billing in your browser. Select Adjust plan for an individual-plan upgrade, then choose the plan and billing option you want.
  4. Review Stripe checkout. Confirm the plan, billing interval, currency, taxes and total shown on the checkout screen. Enter your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry and CVV, along with your real billing details. Follow any authentication prompt presented by the checkout or your card provider.
  5. Confirm the result. Submit the payment once and wait for confirmation. Return to Cursor’s billing page to check your subscription. If the page stalls or displays an error, check whether the payment or subscription was recorded before attempting another charge.

Eligible new users in India can choose Cursor Start during onboarding; eligible existing free users can upgrade from their dashboard. Start also accepts UPI and Indian credit or debit cards. Indian card payments require 3-D Secure authentication, so be ready to complete the challenge if you use a card. If you cannot meet Start’s location or phone-verification requirements, choose only an option legitimately available to you.

What to do if Cursor declines your card

A decline does not identify its cause by itself. Reported messages include “card not accepted” and “card declined, please try another card”. Work through the checks below rather than repeatedly submitting unchanged details.

  • Insufficient available funds: Compare the balance available on your card with Cursor’s final checkout total, including displayed tax. If funds are insufficient, add funds using the options available in Coinepay and check the updated balance before trying again. Ask Coinepay support about any card-specific funding or transaction issue.
  • Card or billing-detail mismatch: Re-enter the card number, expiry and CVV carefully. Check your name and billing address against your real card-associated details. Cursor recommends checking these fields for failed web payments.
  • 3-D Secure or online-payment failure: Complete any authentication request promptly; a failed challenge can stop payment. Cursor specifically identifies failed 3DS challenges and bank declines as possible causes of Start checkout or renewal failures. If no challenge appears, or it fails unexpectedly, contact Coinepay support to ask about the attempted online charge. Eligible Start users can consider UPI or another qualifying card.
  • Card-type or purchase restriction: Cursor forum support has identified “Your card does not support this type of purchase” behind a failed overage charge. It also cautions that prepaid or crypto-funded virtual cards may fail at checkout or renewal. Contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets Cursor’s requirements; if it does not, use another payment method Cursor accepts.
  • Merchant region checks: Check that the selected plan is offered where you genuinely live and that your billing details are accurate. Start is limited to eligible users in India and requires Indian phone-number verification. Neither a different billing address nor a VPN is an appropriate fix for a regional restriction.

If those checks do not resolve the issue, Cursor advises trying another card and asking the card provider whether online charges are enabled. Keep the exact error message and the time of the attempt for support, but never send your full card number or CVV in a support message.

Manage renewals, cancellation and refunds

After subscribing on the web, return to cursor.com/dashboard/billing. Select Manage Subscription to open Stripe’s portal, where you can manage cards, find invoices or cancel. To end a web subscription, follow Billing → Manage Subscription → Cancel Subscription. Cursor says paid access continues through the current billing period; its terms say to cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid the next subscription charge. Check that cancellation is recorded instead of assuming removing a card ends the subscription.

For Pro, Pro+ and Ultra, Cursor says the most recent subscription payment may qualify for a refund if it was charged within 14 days and the subscription has not been used in that billing period. Cursor reviews eligibility; consumed on-demand usage is not refundable. If approved, a refund goes to the original payment method in 5–10 business days. Check Cursor’s applicable policy before relying on a refund, particularly for another plan. For card or payment questions on the Coinepay side, use Coinepay support.
