WooCommerce itself is the free, open-source store platform you add to a WordPress site, but most store owners end up paying for something around it: a premium theme, a Marketplace extension, or renewing an annual subscription on your WooCommerce.com account. This guide shows how to pay for those purchases with a Coinepay virtual card, from creating the card to completing checkout, and what to do if a payment is declined.

One important distinction before you start: WooCommerce (the core platform), the WooCommerce.com Marketplace (where you buy extensions and themes), and WooPayments (the payment gateway you install to accept money from your own shoppers) are different products with different rules. This article is about paying WooCommerce.com for Marketplace products with your card — not about setting up WooPayments to collect sales.

What you need before you start

 • A Coinepay account with identity verification (KYC) completed. You must register and verify before you can use card services — create your account first if you have not.
 • A Coinepay virtual card, which gives you an instant card number, expiry date and CVV in the dashboard or the mobile app (iOS / Google Play).
 • Enough balance on the card for the purchase. WooCommerce.com lists checkout currencies of USD, AUD, CAD, EUR and GBP, so the amount you see may differ from your card currency after conversion.
 • A WordPress.com account. WooCommerce.com sign-in uses WordPress.com, so you will log in or register with it at checkout.
 • Your real billing details — the name and address registered to your Coinepay card. Accurate billing data is what card checks compare against.

How much WooCommerce costs

At the time of writing (October 2026), WooCommerce’s own pricing page states the core platform has no platform subscription tiers and no monthly platform fee — it is free. What you actually pay for are optional pieces:

 • Hosting, bought from a separate provider, with WooCommerce quoting an indicative range of roughly US$25–$350/month.
 • Marketplace extensions and themes, quoted indicatively at about US$29–$299/year per product and generally billed annually, or biennially for selected products.

These are indicative ranges, not fixed quotes. The price of any specific extension, theme or hosting plan varies by product and region, so always confirm the exact figure on the official WooCommerce.com product page before you buy.

Create and fund your Coinepay card

 1. Sign in to the Coinepay dashboard or app and finish KYC if prompted.
 2. Create a virtual card. Your card number, expiry and CVV appear immediately.
 3. Fund the card so the available balance covers the purchase amount plus any conversion that applies to non-USD or international charges.
 4. Note the billing address on file for the card — you will enter it exactly at checkout.

If you run a business and buy extensions for several stores or clients, you can issue separate virtual cards and set a custom spending limit per card, which keeps each renewal easy to track.

Buy a WooCommerce Marketplace product step by step

 1. On WooCommerce.com, open the extension or theme you want and select Buy Now.
 2. At checkout, sign in or register with your WordPress.com account.
 3. Enter your card details from Coinepay: card number, expiry date and CVV.
 4. Enter the billing name and address that match your Coinepay card exactly.
 5. Review the currency and total. WooCommerce.com checkout accepts major cards including American Express, Discover, Diners Club, JCB, Mastercard and Visa, and may offer PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay depending on your device.
 6. Complete the purchase. If your issuer asks for 3-D Secure confirmation, approve it in the Coinepay app or via the verification prompt.

Whether any given merchant accepts a particular card depends on the merchant and your issuer. If you are unsure your Coinepay card meets a requirement, contact Coinepay support to confirm before you buy.

Manage your subscription and payment method

Inside your WooCommerce.com account you can keep everything organised:

 • Payment Methods page — add, update or remove the card used for renewals.
 • My Subscriptions — view active products and renewal dates.
 • My Account → Taxpayer Codes — store a tax ID if you need one on invoices.

New Marketplace subscriptions auto-renew by default. To stop a renewal, go to My Subscriptions, open the product’s three-dot menu and choose Cancel subscription; you keep access until the current term expires. Keeping your Coinepay card funded before the renewal date avoids a failed charge that could interrupt updates and support.

Refunds

WooCommerce.com states that Marketplace extensions and themes qualify for a full refund within 30 days of purchase, requested from the relevant order in your WooCommerce.com account. Third-party SaaS products billed through its Billing API follow that third party’s own refund policy. Any approved refund is returned to the card used for payment; you can then confirm it landed back on your Coinepay card in the dashboard.

Troubleshooting: why a card payment is declined

WooCommerce’s documentation lists checkout messages such as “Your card was declined,” “Your card has insufficient funds,” and “Your card has expired,” along with a generic problem-with-this-payment message. Documented causes include issuer rejection, insufficient funds, incorrect card details and suspected fraud. Work through these common points:

Insufficient balance

Make sure the card holds enough to cover the full amount, including any currency conversion if the price is in USD, AUD, CAD, EUR or GBP and your card is in another currency. Top up in the Coinepay app and retry.

Billing address or card detail mismatch

An “incorrect card details” or generic decline is often a typo or a billing address that does not match your card record. Re-enter the card number, expiry and CVV carefully and use the exact billing name and address on file with Coinepay.

3-D Secure not completed

If a verification step appears and is cancelled or times out, the payment fails. Keep the Coinepay app handy to approve the prompt, then try again.

Issuer or fraud block

A first-time or unusual charge can be flagged. Check the Coinepay app for any pending confirmation or notification, and review your card status. For an unspecified issuer decline, the WooCommerce guidance is to take it up with your card provider — reach Coinepay support if you need help interpreting the result.

Region and card-type checks

Some payment flows apply region or card-type checks. If a charge is rejected on those grounds, do not attempt to disguise your location or details — always use your real identity and billing information. Instead, confirm with Coinepay support that your card is suitable for the purchase.

Tip: try a smaller Marketplace purchase or renewal first to confirm the card works at WooCommerce.com before committing to a larger annual plan.

A note on availability

Coinepay services require identity verification, are provided through licensed partner institutions, and are not available in every jurisdiction; services related to virtual assets are not available to residents of mainland China. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of comprehensively sanctioned jurisdictions. For anything about your specific card — limits, currencies or suitability for a given merchant — check the Coinepay app or dashboard or ask support.
