Replicate lets you run and deploy AI models through a pay-as-you-go API, and you pay for the compute time or outputs you use. If you want to keep your AI spending separate from your main account, a Coinepay virtual card gives you an instant card number, expiry date and CVV to add to Replicate's billing settings. This guide walks through what you need, how Replicate's checkout works, and what to do if a payment is declined.

What you need before you start

Replicate's sign-in is tied to a GitHub account, so you will sign in with GitHub rather than creating a separate Replicate password. Before you add a card, make sure you have:

  • A GitHub account to sign in with at the Replicate sign-in page.
  • A Coinepay account with identity verification (KYC) completed. You must finish KYC before you can use card services. If you have not registered yet, you can create a Coinepay account and verify your identity first.
  • A Coinepay virtual card with funds available on it. You can create and manage cards in the Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app (iOS and Google Play).
  • Your real billing details — the name and billing address that match your Coinepay card record. Use your genuine identity; do not enter made-up details.

Replicate's terms list credit cards, debit cards and bank transfer as accepted payment categories, and note that Stripe may process payments. Replicate does not publish which card networks or whether virtual or prepaid cards are eligible, so if you are unsure your card will be accepted, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card details before you add credit.

How Replicate billing works

Replicate uses two official billing models. Prepaid Credit is the model most new accounts use: you add a balance up front and your usage draws it down. Payment in Arrears bills you for usage, normally at the start of the following month, though Replicate notes some usage can trigger an earlier charge. Since July 16, 2025, new accounts were switched to prepaid credit, while existing monthly-billed accounts could continue unchanged.

Pricing is pay-as-you-go. Replicate does not list a named Free, Pro or monthly self-serve tier; instead it charges for public models (generally by processing time or by input/output) and private models (most instances charged for all time online). At the time of writing (October 2026), the pricing page shows examples in USD such as CPU (Small) at $0.09/hour, an Nvidia T4 GPU at $0.81/hour, an Nvidia H100 GPU at $5.49/hour, and the public model black-forest-labs/flux-1.1-pro at $0.04 per output image. Prices change and taxes may be added, so check Replicate's official pricing page for current rates before you commit.

Step by step: add a Coinepay card and buy credit

  1. Create your Coinepay virtual card. In the Coinepay app or dashboard, generate a card and note the card number, expiry date and CVV. Make sure it has enough balance to cover the credit amount you plan to add plus any applicable taxes.
  2. Sign in to Replicate. Go to the Replicate sign-in page and choose "Sign in with GitHub."
  3. Open billing settings. Go to replicate.com/account/billing, or click your avatar, then Account settings, then Billing.
  4. Add a payment method. In billing settings, add your Coinepay card details. Enter the billing name and address exactly as they appear on your Coinepay card record.
  5. Add credit. Select Add credit, choose an amount, and follow the prompts. Replicate charges the card immediately and updates your balance.
  6. Complete any verification. If a 3-D Secure or authentication step appears, approve it in the Coinepay app or via the method Coinepay uses for confirmations.
  7. Confirm your balance. After the charge succeeds, your prepaid balance should update. From October 8, 2025, invoice PDFs are available from billing settings for both credit purchases and monthly usage.

About auto-reload

Replicate offers an optional auto-reload that tops your balance back up automatically. According to Replicate's docs, the minimum threshold is $5 and the minimum reload balance is $15. You can change or disable auto-reload in billing settings at any time. If you prefer to control each charge to your Coinepay card manually, leave auto-reload off and add credit yourself when you need it.

Troubleshooting a declined card

Replicate does not publish its own list of decline reasons, and payment processing may go through Stripe. The following are common, general causes worth checking — none of them is a confirmed Replicate error message, so treat them as a checklist rather than a diagnosis.

Insufficient balance

A virtual card can only authorise what it holds. Confirm your Coinepay card has enough to cover the credit amount plus any tax Replicate adds. Top up the card in the Coinepay app and try the "Add credit" step again.

Billing address or name mismatch

If the name or billing address you entered on Replicate does not match your Coinepay card record, the charge can be rejected. Re-check the details in your Coinepay dashboard and enter them exactly.

3-D Secure / authentication

Some charges require an extra authentication step. If the payment stalls or fails after you submit it, watch for a confirmation request in the Coinepay app and approve it promptly, then retry.

Expiry or CVV errors

Make sure the expiry date and CVV you entered match the exact card you are using. If you created a new card recently, confirm you are copying the current card's details.

Merchant or region checks

Replicate's terms bar use by prohibited parties and from US-embargoed or designated countries, and it does not publish a full country-by-country acceptance list. If a charge is refused and your details are correct, the issue may be a merchant-side check rather than your balance. A December 2025 user report described previously successful top-ups later failing without a stated reason, which shows that a decline does not always indicate a problem with your card.

What to do next

If the charge still fails, contact Coinepay support to confirm the card is active, has funds and is suitable for this merchant. For account-specific billing questions on Replicate's side, reach out to Replicate through its own support channels.

Cancelling, refunds and account closure

Prepaid credit expires one year after purchase, and unused credit is generally non-refundable except where law or the agreement requires otherwise. If your balance reaches zero, Replicate stops starting new work, though a run that exceeds your balance may produce a later charge. To stop automatic top-ups, disable auto-reload in billing settings. Replicate's terms note that if you hold a Subscription you must cancel by emailing [email protected] before renewal; which product, if any, currently uses a Subscription is not specified. You can also terminate the service terms by deleting your account, but you still owe any amounts due before termination.

A note on managing cards for teams

If you run AI workloads for a business, you can create separate Coinepay virtual cards for different projects or accounts and set custom spending limits on each, which makes it easier to track Replicate spend against other tools. Everything is managed from the 24/7 Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app, and card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions.

FAQ

Does Replicate accept virtual cards?

Replicate's terms list credit cards, debit cards and bank transfer as accepted categories but do not confirm whether virtual or prepaid cards are eligible, or which networks are accepted. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card details before adding credit.

Do I need a subscription to use Replicate?

Replicate uses pay-as-you-go pricing and does not list a named Free, Pro or monthly self-serve tier. Most new accounts use prepaid credit, where you add a balance that your usage draws down.

How do I add my Coinepay card to Replicate?

Sign in with GitHub, go to replicate.com/account/billing (or avatar then Account settings then Billing), add your Coinepay card details with a matching billing name and address, then select Add credit and follow the prompts.

Why was my card declined when adding credit?

Common causes include insufficient card balance, a billing address or name mismatch, an unmet 3-D Secure step, or a wrong expiry/CVV. Merchant-side region checks can also block a charge. Verify your details and contact Coinepay support if it still fails.

Is Replicate prepaid credit refundable?

Purchased prepaid credit expires one year after purchase and is generally non-refundable, except where the law or the agreement requires otherwise. Check Replicate's billing docs and terms for details.
