Grok is the AI assistant from xAI, available both at grok.com and inside X. If you want a paid tier such as SuperGrok, you need a valid payment method on file. This guide explains how to set up a Coinepay virtual card and use it at Grok's checkout, and what to try if your card is declined.
Coinepay issues virtual cards with an instant card number, expiry date and CVV that you can manage from the 24/7 dashboard or the mobile app. Before you start, remember that whether any specific merchant accepts a given card depends on the merchant and its payment processor, so follow the checkout screens carefully and keep the Coinepay app handy.
What you need before you start
- A Coinepay account with identity verification (KYC) completed. If you have not registered yet, you can create an account and finish verification first.
- A Coinepay virtual card created in your dashboard or in the app (iOS / Android), with its card number, expiry and CVV ready.
- Enough balance on the card to cover the plan plus any taxes or payment-method fees the checkout adds.
- Your real billing details (name, address and country) that match your Coinepay account.
- A Grok or X account, depending on which product you are paying for.
Know which product you are buying
Grok and X Premium are separate purchases with separate checkouts, so decide first which one you want.
Grok direct subscriptions
The individual plans named on the official x.ai pricing page are Free, SuperGrok Lite, SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, and SuperGrok Heavy. At the time of writing (October 2026) the pricing page displayed Free at US$0/month, SuperGrok at US$30/month and SuperGrok Plus at US$100/month, while some tiers did not show a web price in the page text. There are also Business (listed at US$30/month per user) and Enterprise by sales quote. Prices vary by region and by whether you buy on the web or through an app store, so always confirm the plan name, billing period and total on the purchase screen and on x.ai/pricing before you pay.
X Premium (includes Grok access)
X Premium is a different product with tiers Basic, Premium, and Premium+. X says Premium+ includes SuperGrok access and Premium has increased Grok limits. X also requires phone-number confirmation for subscribers, and says Premium is not available in every market. If you only want Grok itself, subscribe through grok.com instead.
Step-by-step: subscribe to Grok on the web
- Create or top up your Coinepay virtual card so it covers the plan price plus possible tax or fees.
- Go to grok.com in your browser and sign in to your Grok account.
- Choose the paid plan you want (for example SuperGrok or SuperGrok Plus) and open its checkout.
- Review the plan name, the billing period and the total shown. Since August 2026, Grok's Stripe billing shows amounts in the currency you are charged, so check this matches what you expect.
- At the payment step, select card payment. Users have reported card payment and Stripe Link on the web checkout, though availability can differ by user and country.
- Enter your Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV, then enter your billing name, address and country exactly as they appear on your Coinepay account.
- Complete any 3-D Secure / authentication step if prompted, then confirm the purchase.
- After payment, manage the subscription under Settings → Billing (or the logged-in billing page), where you can change plan, update the default card or cancel.
If you are paying through an app store
Purchases made in the Grok iOS or Android apps are billed and managed by Apple or Google, not by Grok's web billing. One Android purchaser reported Google Wallet and PayPal as options. App Store and web prices can differ, so review the exact figure on the purchase screen. To add a virtual card to a store wallet, follow that store's own instructions.
Step-by-step: subscribe to X Premium
- Open x.com and select Premium in the side navigation (or the Premium option in the mobile profile menu).
- Choose a tier (Basic, Premium or Premium+) and a billing period, and confirm the phone-number requirement.
- Enter your Coinepay card and matching billing details, complete any authentication, and confirm.
At the time of writing (October 2026), X's published monthly web prices for Basic/Premium/Premium+ were US$3/US$8/US$40 and UK £3/£8/£31, with taxes and payment-method fees potentially added. Confirm current prices for your country on X's own pages before you buy.
Troubleshooting: card declined
Reported Grok checkout messages include "Your card has been declined," "card declined," and "card rejected." These messages do not tell you whether the issuer, the payment processor or an account check caused the failure. Work through the common causes below.
Insufficient balance
Make sure the card holds enough to cover the plan plus any tax or small verification hold the checkout may place. Top up in the Coinepay app and try again.
Billing address or name mismatch
The billing name, address and country you type at checkout should match the details on your Coinepay account. A mismatch is a frequent reason a payment is rejected. Use your real details only.
3-D Secure / authentication
Some payments require an extra authentication step. Complete any prompt that appears and check for confirmation requests in your Coinepay app. In India, the Reserve Bank's recurring-payment rules add authentication requirements for card mandates.
Region and eligibility checks
Grok on X is available wherever X is available, but X notes Premium is not available in every market, and an official country list for grok.com paid checkout is not published. If a plan is unavailable in your location, no card will complete the purchase. Use only your real location and billing details — do not try to disguise your region.
Card type checks
xAI's terms require a valid payment method but do not publish a comprehensive list of accepted card brands or card types for Grok subscriptions. One user reported that certain gift cards stopped working at Grok after October 1, 2026, though no blanket policy was confirmed. If you are unsure whether your card will be accepted, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card details before you buy.
Manage Subscription won't open
If the Manage Subscription page does not load, xAI suggests disabling blocking browser extensions or trying another browser, then contacting xAI support if it still fails.
Cancellation and refunds
Direct Grok subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time. Amounts already paid are generally non-refundable except where law requires. For grok.com or Google Play purchases, xAI directs refund requests to its signed-in refund form; approved refunds typically return to the original method in 5–10 business days, while Apple handles App Store refunds. Consumers resident in the EEA, UK or Switzerland have a 14-day withdrawal right under xAI's terms (which excludes X Premium/Premium+ charges). X Premium follows X's own policy: cancel on the purchasing platform at least 24 hours before renewal, with benefits usually continuing to the end of the paid cycle.
A note on usage and features
Since June 2026, xAI has been moving to a shared weekly usage allowance; web-only Extra Usage Credits can be bought after the allowance runs out, starting at US$5. Feature access such as Grok Bot can vary by tier, so check the relevant product screen on grok.com rather than assuming. Always confirm the current entitlement before subscribing.

FAQ
Which Grok plan should I pay for with my Coinepay card?
Pick based on what you need: the individual tiers are Free, SuperGrok Lite, SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus and SuperGrok Heavy, plus Business and Enterprise. X Premium is a separate product, and its Premium+ tier includes SuperGrok access. Confirm the plan name, billing period and price on the purchase screen before paying.
Does Grok accept Coinepay virtual cards?
xAI requires a valid payment method but does not publish a full list of accepted card brands or card types for Grok subscriptions, and whether any card works depends on the merchant and processor. Enter your card and matching billing details at checkout, and contact Coinepay support if you want to confirm your card details beforehand.
Why was my card declined at Grok checkout?
Common causes are insufficient balance, a billing address or name that does not match your account, an incomplete 3-D Secure authentication step, or the plan not being available in your region. Check each of these in the Coinepay app and try again. Messages like 'Your card has been declined' do not identify the exact cause.
Where do I manage or cancel my Grok subscription?
For web purchases, go to Settings then Billing (or the logged-in billing page) on grok.com to change plan, update your card or cancel. App Store and Google Play purchases are managed through Apple or Google. X Premium is managed on the platform where you bought it.
Can I get a refund if I cancel Grok?
Direct Grok subscriptions are generally non-refundable except where law requires; refund requests for grok.com or Google Play go through xAI's signed-in refund form, and approved refunds typically return in 5–10 business days. Apple handles App Store refunds. EEA, UK and Switzerland residents may have a 14-day withdrawal right under xAI's terms.
